Ravens slip to 5-4 defeat despite Sean Doyle hat-trick
There was late heartbreak as FC Isle of Man slipped to a 5-4 defeat against St Helens in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.
The home side were two goals up inside the opening 15 minutes in an action-packed first half.
Goals from Ste Whitley and Sean Doyle kept the Ravens in contention, but further efforts from St Helens ensured they led 4-2 at the break.
Doyle completed his hat-trick in the second half with two headers to get the visitors back on level terms, but late pressure from St Helens saw Tom Scarborough net a winner for the hosts inside the final five minutes.
In a scathing assessment to FC Isle of Man's club media at full-time, manager Paul Jones admits his side 'got what they deserved' and described certain aspects of the team's performance as 'shocking':
The result leaves FC Isle of Man 15th in the NWCFL Premier Division table ahead of their trip to Litherland REMYCA on Saturday.
