Kennaugh maintains Giro d'Italia position

Peter Kennaugh maintained his strong position in the general classification of the Giro d'Italia today, consolidating 16th by finishing in the bunch.

The Onchan star finished 63rd on stage six, with the first 89 riders being given the same time.

It was won by Spanish sprinter Francisco Ventoso, ahead of Alessandro Petacchi.

Mark Cavendish finished in 171st, over 13-and-a-half minutes behind Ventoso.

Cavendish has also dropped to tenth in the points classification.
