Isle of Man collects four medals - Two Golds, one Silver and one Bronze

After day one's opening ceremony, day two saw the first of the action at the Island Games in Orkney.

It was a strong start to the competition for the Isle of Man as they collected four medals - Two Golds, one Silver and one Bronze.

Athletics saw the bulk of the medals with Christa Cain and Regan Corrin both winning the top prizes in the women's 10,000m and Men's high jump respectively.

Georgia Price meanwhile brought home Silver in the women's triple jump.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly Cain who as well as winning the highest honour, she also broke a 28-year-old record.

Her time of 35:16.83 was almost one minute quicker than Åland Island's runner Ann-Catrin Nordman and over two minutes faster than her nearest competitor in Orkney.

Corrin meanwhile wasted no time in his event as he set the early benchmarks in the high jump before taking the Gold with a height of 1.97m.

In the triple jump, Price was agonisingly close to finishing top, but fell just short of Jersey's Zara Asante's distance of 11.61m with a jump of 11.53m.

Last but not least, the Bronze medal was handed to Clara Isaac in the women's individual triathlon as she finished five seconds behind Orkney winner Claire Rendall.

In Badminton, the Island team breezed past Gotland, Bermuda and Orkney in the group phases to advance to the knockout rounds to face Greenland.

Football, however, had a mixed start. The men's side swept Hitra aside with a 7-2 victory, which included a hattrick from Sean Doyle.

But the women's team were held to a 0-0 draw by Gozo in regular time, and were unfortunately undone 4-3 during penalties.
