Two late goals hand Manx side the win in friendly

The Isle of Man women's national football team has taken victory on the road with a 4-2 friendly win at Preston North End this afternoon (9 May).

Sarah Wignall was first on target for the Islanders on 12 minutes with an equaliser direct from a corner kick after their hosts had opening the scoring inside the first two minutes.

After going in level at the break, Preston North End led once more four minutes after the restart before the Isle of Man replied again through a Lisa Costain strike with 63 minutes played.

With less than ten minutes remaining, the Isle of Man took the lead for the first time, first through Tia Lisy on 83 minutes before Lydia Shaw then added a fourth just six minutes after that.

The Isle of Man women's team will return to action next weekend when they face FC United of Manchester in a friendly at The Bowl in Douglas on Saturday, 16 May.
