Hundreds gear up for IOM Marathon & Half Marathon

Drivers up north asked to be aware of racers

More than 400 runners are setting themselves up for the IOM Marathon Road Racing Championships and Half Marathon this weekend. (Sunday 8 Aug)

Competitors will be on open roads so if you're driving up north on Sunday you're asking to drive with extra care; the course will be signed and marshaled.

If you're supporting someone competing you're asked not to drive on the course and instead park up and head to Ballacloan stadium where there'll be live commentary and refreshments.

The first race gets underway at 8:30am with the last runners expected shortly after 1pm.

The route runners will be following can be found below:

Runners follow a route from Ramsey along Mooragh prom and join the A10 at the Vollen junction to head towards Bride, turning left at the top of Bride Hill onto the A17 to Andreas. At Andreas village they turn right, running past the Grosvenor pub to St Judes crossroads. Here they pick up the A13  / Jurby road and head back to Ramsey . Once in Ramsey they cross the Bowring Road  /A9 and run back to the finish in Ballacloan stadium.
