Manx side hit nine in commanding quarter-finals victory
One of the Isle of Man's junior national hockey sides has progressed to the semi-finals of an England Hockey Championships competition.
The Manx Under-14 Boys squad are one of four teams remaining in the EH Tier 2 Plate for the age group after a commanding 9-1 win over Stone on Sunday (10 March).
The Island visitors found themselves 4-0 up come half-time courtesy of strikes from Cal Joyce, Caleb Blakemore, Zack Heunis and George Leece.
Blakemore and Heunis then struck again early in the second period to make it six - Ollie Christian then added to the tally before Blakemore sealed his hat-trick with his third finish to put the Isle of Man outfit 8-0 to the good.
The rout was completed as Joyce made it a brace for himself and nine overall with Stone grabbing a consolation late on.
The Isle of Man Under-14 Boys will now face Guildford U14 Boys Jaguars in the semi-finals with a date and venue to be confirmed.
