Hockey: IoM men's squad prepare for county championships

Manx side to face two days of competition in Nottingham this weekend

The Isle of Man men's national hockey team is getting to set to contest the latest England Hockey County Championships this weekend.

The Island side will take on two days of intense competition this Saturday and Sunday (9-10 May) with the event to be held at Nottingham Hockey Centre.

This year, the Isle of Man will be joined in their group by host county, Nottinghamshire along with Shropshire, Yorkshire, and the UK Armed Forces.

Matches will operate in a shorter 46-minute format - made up of two halves of 23 minutes - with the Isle of Man to face its first three fixtures tomorrow (9 May) and their last group clash on Sunday morning (10 May).

Final placings in the group will then dictate further fixtures on Sunday afternoon.

More broadly, the competition will involve ten county teams in total split into two groups of five with the top two from each group progressing to the semi-finals.
