Report by Ben Cunningham:
It’s finals weekend in the Mixed cup competitions with the Mixed Bowl and Mixed Plate up for grabs this weekend with the Mixed Cup being played next weekend (20 December).
In the Mixed Bowl, which pushes back at 12.30pm at the NSC, we see Castletown Cammags play Vikings D.
These two sides were the top two in Mixed Division Two with Cammags being crowned champions, however Vikings D have also had a great season themselves, also scoring plenty of goals as well along the way.
These two sides did meet towards the end of the season with that match ending in a dra.
Next on pitch at the NSC at 2.30pm sees the Mixed Plate final between Valkyrs B and Bacchas C.
Mixed Division One had us right on the edge of our seats right until the end with Valkyrs B eventually being confirmed as champions, Bacchas C where also in the running and did lead in this league but a couple a big key results didn’t go their way.
Bacchas C will definitely want to make up for losing out on the league title but Valkyrs B will definitely be coming into this on a high after winning the division and would love to take the plate back to the west of the island.
The Mixed Cup will round off the cup action on the 20 December when Bacchas A play Castletown Celts.
The Isle of Man Mens' Hockey 1st and 2nd teams both travel to Preston on Saturday 13th December, for cup matches in the England Hockey Tier 2 and Tier 3 Championships respectively.
Elsewhere, three Isle of Man senior national sides head off-Island to compete in the respective EH Championship tournaments.
The Isle of Man Men's B team are up first against Triton Mens 1st XI in the EH Men's Tier 3 Vase, with a 2.15pm push-back.
Following a good cup run in the Tier 3 plate last season where they reached the semi-final, the squad will be looking to progress deep into the competition. In Triton, they face an unknown test and will need to work out their opposition quickly to make it through to the next round.
The Isle of Man Men's A team play a 4pm push-back away at Preston Mens 1st XI in the EH Men's Tier 2 Trophy in a repeat of last season's second round fixture which saw Preston end up winners in an extremely exciting 6-5 match.
Preston currently lie in third place in the North West Premier Division and will pose a stern test for the Manx side as they look for revenge.
The last match ended in a 2-1 defeat which pushed the team all the way.
With some players stepping up from the B team they will be out to prove themselves - the team offers a good mixture and have been training well, until recently with a few weather disruptions but nevertheless they are raring to go.
A win gives them a place in round three and a loss will find them in the second round of the Tier 2 plate.
