Hedges Dominates National Championships

Multi-Island Games gold medal winning gymnast Alex Hedges dominated the Island Championship taking the overall title after winning five of the six disciplines - pommel, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar. Joe Smith was the winner on the floor.

Alex also achieved a score well above next year's Commonwealth Games selection criteria.

Second in the seniors was Makunda Measuria with Adam Hedges third.

Other age group winners were Anand Patel, Josh Caple, Anton Ivshin and Cedric Lucas.

On Saturday, the Manx Gymnastics Centre of Excellence on Glencrutchery Road will host the Isle of Man Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships which start at 9am.

There will be a new Champion as reigning title holder Olivia Curran is sitting out the competition after recent surgery.
