Brother and sister claim top spots at Mount Murray

Siblings Robert Noon and Emma Noon have been crowned winners of this year's Isle of Man Golf Championships.

In the finals of the 2024 event at Mount Murray Golf Club on Sunday (14 July), Robert Noon overcame Liam Cowin whilst Emma Noon won her last-two battle with Shirley Price.

For Robert it's a third successive IoM Championships men's title - on the way to victory this year he claimed victories over Freddie Dancox in the last-16; Chris Kneen in the quarter-finals stage and Peter Glover in the last four.

Meanwhile, Emma Noon's win over Price in the ladies final followed an impressive semi-final display in which she knocked out defending champion Kayleigh Dawson who'd been targeting a third straight title.

The women's final between Emma Noon and previous champion Price saw Noon on home turf at Mount Murray make an impressive start taking a commanding advantage over the first 18 holes, going on to eventually win the contest 8 & 7 despite a spirited comeback from Price on the second 18.

Elsewhere in the men's final showdown between Emma's brother Robert - also of Mount Murray - and his 2023 Island Games teammate Cowin was a close-fought battle seeing Robert go two up with two to play.

The match would go down to the 36th hole and whilst both players hit the green, Liam missed his birdie to leave Robert with two puts to take the match.

Despite missing at the first opportunity, Robert capitalised on the second put to take victory and avoid extra holes.

Isle of Man Golf Union is thanking Mount Murray Golf Club, sponsors and volunteers for their part in running a 'successful championship.'
