Competing for Great Britain in the under-23 race, the Peel athlete also helped them retain the team title.
Four of the six Brits took top seven places in a race which was won by Italy's Andrea Lalli in 24:56, eight seconds ahead of GB's Andy Vernon.
Gerrard came home in 25:21.
