One of the men who helped lead the 'Manx Missile' to road race glory at cycling's World Championships in Copenhagen on Sunday wants him to join his GB colleagues at Team Sky.
When asked if Mark Cavendish was signing for the outfit for next season Geraint Thomas told BBC Sport: 'I hope so'.
He continued: 'He has proved he's the fastest in the world and to have him in the team would be amazing.
'To lead him out, week in week out, would be special.'
Cav and David Millar were the only members of the eight-strong British team in the Danish capital who don't already ride professionally for Team Sky.
The team Cav has enjoyed his success with so far, HTC-Highroad, has been dissolved, leaving him open to offers.
