Michael George received a standing ovation at the Manx Telecom Parish Walk prize presentation at the Villa Marina last night.
He picked up the Merit Award for his third place finish with a time inside the old course record set by Sean Hands in 2006.
Tim Glover reports
Similar to the ghost-like figure that finished on Douglas Promenade last Saturday, Michael George was hardly able to speak after the warmth of the applause as he took to the stage.
The honour was given in recognition of his extreme courage and performance.
He led for over 60 miles and is the fastest ever walker to all the churches from Jurby to Lonan.
Also noted was his exceptional sportsmanship - despite his difficulties and disappointment, he was back on the prom at five on Sunday morning to cheer home the later finishers.
