Frustrating day at North West 200

It was a day to forget at the North West 200.

Racing was abandoned early as a result of an oil spill with just one race being completed.

After attempts to clean the course and examination by race officials it was decided the road was still in too hazardous a condition.

Racing had earlier been affected by bad weather and a hoax security alert which led to the paddock being cleared.

Carrickfergus rider Alistair Seeley was the only winner as he edged out Cameron Donald in the Supersport 600 race with Bruce Anstey third.

Manx racer Connor Cummins, returning to racing after a bad accident in last year's TT, came in 10th.

Of the other local racers, Si Fulton was 16th and Dan Kneen failed to finish.

Relentless Suzuki team boss Hector Neil said it was a day when everything went against organisers.

The organisers say they’re looking forward to running a full programme next year.
