Football: Weekend heralds first round proper of Hospital Cup & Junior Cup

The first rounds proper of both the Manx Quality Sheds Hospital Cup and Ascot Hotel Junior Cup make up the majority of the Isle of Man football fixtures this weekend.

Tomorrow (25 April) sees the return of the Hospital Cup with 16 teams vying to make progress into the next stage.

Among the ties, there's a repeat of the 'old firm' clash between Rushen United and Peel after both met in the Canada Life Men's Premier League in midweek, whilst Colby - who knocked out defending champions, Ramsey in the preliminary round - host Douglas High School Old Boys (DHSOB.).

Meanwhile, four league contests will be held on Saturday - in the one fixture in the Canada Life Men's Premier League, Foxdale will be relegated from the top flight if they fail to beat Ramsey at Billy Goat Park.

On Sunday (26 April), seven ties are penned in for the Junior Cup first round - they will include a northern derby when Ramsey Youth Centre & Old Boys (Rycob.) host Ramsey, and elsewhere, last season's finalists, Rushen United host Peel.

During the same day there will be a trio of clashes in the Canada Life Women's League where Peel could all but wrap up the league title when they travel to Union Mills.
