Football: Teams could end up playing 2 games a week post-lockdown

IOMFA aims to complete all leagues by 31 May

Most football clubs could find themselves playing twice a week to meet the end of season deadline after lockdown.

With hopes of athletes from all backgrounds getting back to action in the near future, the IOMFA says it aims to complete all leagues by 31 May.

This will result in most teams playing twice a week, while a number of cup competitions could end up being held after the completion of the league, if time permits.

This season, the FA has granted permission for all county Football Associations to extend their seasons until 30 June 2021 should they wish to do so.

In normal circumstances a Special General Meeting would be called for all clubs to vote on the issue, but in the current situation, it will be done via email instead.

Clubs have been asked to submit their vote by 5pm Wednesday, 14 April.
