Manx side to face Preston North End in friendly this weekend
A busy summer for the Isle of Man women's national football team gets underway with a new test away from home this weekend.
A squad of 18 players will travel to Lancashire to take on Preston North End on Saturday afternoon (9 May).
This will be the first of two friendlies for the Island side in the space of a week which form part of its preparations for the Cherry Godfrey Cup next month which the Isle of Man will go into as defending champions.
Isle of Man women's national team manager, Wayne Lisy, is excited for what the team can do in the months ahead:
This weekend will be the first time the Isle of Man women's squad has been in action since claiming the silver medal at the International Island Games in Orkney last summer.
Along with Saturday's tie - which will take place at Longridge Town Football Club in Lancashire - the Isle of Man will then take on FC United of Manchester in a home friendly at The Bowl in Douglas on Saturday, 16 May.
After that they will travel to Guernsey for the second edition of The Cherry Godfrey Cup on 26-27 June before there are plans for the Isle of Man to host a 'triangular tournament' on 17 July which will also feature Ynys Mon and a third, unconfirmed team.
