Proposed partnership revealed in joint statement
Two football clubs on the Isle of Man have announced plans to merge together ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 season.
Gymnasium AFC and Douglas Athletic have confirmed their intentions to join forces, subject to final approval from the Isle of Man Football Association.
In a joint statement, both clubs say the partnership will bring together 'two proud clubs with strong histories, shared values, and a common vision for the future of football on the Isle of Man.'
It's understood the senior teams will compete under the name of Gymnasium AFC whilst the junior section will continue to be called Douglas Athletic.
Furthermore, a 'new club identity, kit and crest' is expected to be released in due course.
As it stands, the fixtures for the approaching new campaign show both clubs with teams registered in both Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 and Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Combination Two.

"Douglas Athletic Football Club and Gymnasium AFC are delighted to announce that, subject to final approval from the Isle of Man Football Association, our two clubs will be merging to create an exciting new future together.
"This partnership brings together two proud clubs with strong histories, shared values, and a common vision for the future of football on the Isle of Man.
"By joining forces, we will be able to provide enhanced opportunities for players of all ages, improved facilities, greater volunteer support, and a stronger pathway from junior football through to senior football.
"The merger will see us benefit from excellent facilities at Tromode, while creating a sustainable and ambitious club structure that supports participation, development, and enjoyment of the game at every level.
"For our junior players and families, we want to reassure you that youth football remains at the heart of our plans. The merger creates exciting opportunities for the future while maintaining the welcoming, community-focused environment that both clubs are known for.
"This is not simply one club moving to another location. It is a genuine partnership, bringing together the best of both organisations to build something even stronger for current and future generations of players.
"There is much to look forward to in the coming months, including the unveiling of a new club identity, crest, and playing kit that will proudly represent the heritage of both clubs.
