Football: England's Euro's win will 'help' girls football on Island, says FA

Organisation hopes will pave way for under-16 league in two years

The Isle of Man FA says England's recent success at the UEFA Women's EURO's will help the growth of girls' football on the Isle of Man.

England went back-to-back at the Euro's after beating Spain in the final on Sunday. (27 July)

Jamylea Ferns, who although only became the IoM FA Women's Development Officer at the end of 2024, says the game is already bigger now than it was four years ago:

"We've had our school tournaments where we've gone from scratching around for teams to enter, to last year and this year having 25 all girl teams." - Jamylea Ferns

She added that the FA will keep working hard to take advantage of the increased popularity of the sport:

Jamylea also said there is enough under-14 girls sides on the Island to play each other competitively and the organisation hopes that will continue to the under-16s, with the help of the Lionesses:
