Football: Corinthians hammer Douglas Royal to win Women's FA Cup

Douglas-based side win competition for record ninth time

Corinthians have won this year's Canada Life Women's FA Cup following a resounding 12-1 win over Douglas Royal in the final of the competition on Sunday (24 May).

The Douglas-based side were 7-0 up at half-time courtesy of a Holly Sumner brace and goals from Milly Dawson, Chloe Teare, Kayleigh-Dee Corrin, Lula-Belle Findlay and Lydia Shaw.

Into the second period and Douglas Royal pulled one back through Charley Bell before Corinthians raced away with five more as Findlay netted twice again; Shaw and Teare were on the scoresheet once more as well as a strike from Stevie Mallon.

Following her hat-trick, Findlay also went on to scoop the Player of the Match award.

This success marks the ninth time Corinthians have won this competition which is a record in the women's game on Island.
