Howard Warren beats his son in dramatic finish to win classic car event
Just 14 seconds separated family members in the top two positions as Howard Warren and Iain Tullie won the fourth edition of the Three Legs of Mann Rally.
They clinched victory in their Porsche 911 Coupe after it appeared Howard's son Matthew Warren and his teammate Ryan Pickering had the upper hand.
However, as it approached the closing stages of the two day event on Saturday lunchtime, clutch problems proved a decisive factor for the Ford Escort crew.
Although they were able to continue, his father pipped him to the title in what turned out to be a dramatic classic car rally in horrendous conditions.
A number of drivers from all over Europe had travelled to the Island to compete in the event, which is organised by the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation (HERO).
Stages involved them charging down narrow country roads as well as covering mountain and coastal routes.
The highest finishing local pairing in the Three Legs of Mann Rally were Noel Kelly and Pete Johnson, who ended up in sixth place in their Volvo 122S.
