One of the big Boxing Day sporting events is no more.
Organisers have dropped the Millennium Way Relay from its slot in the festive calendar and replaced it with a shorter race at a single venue.
The relay went from Sky Hill near Ramsey to Castletown, via roads and hilly footpaths.
But one of the organisers, Andy Fox, says it had to be shortened more often in recent years, due to the Mountain Road being closed for snow.
Other factors behind the decision include health and safety issues and the large number of marshals required for such a long route (play audio file):
The new event will be run on a similar format at Ballanette Farm, Clay Head, Baldrine on Monday, December 27.
Entries close this Saturday (December 11) and there are further details on the Manx Harriers website.
