Crewe and Nantwich take Ballafletcher spoils

Emerging Nomads edged out Western Vikings 29-24 in a tight game at QEII in the only game of the day in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield.

Steven Downe ran in two for Nomads and there were also tries from Dylan Chambers, Andy Lean and Mark Young who also added two conversions.

Peter Crowe, Daniel Howard and skipper Liam Sweeney all ran in tries for Vikings with Ryan Burke kicking two conversions and two penalties.

It was bad news for Vagabonds Ladies in Women’s NC North West 1 as they went down 25-7 to Crewe & Nantwich.

After a positive start, Vagas fell behind when Lauren Muddiman opened the visitors’ account.

Two tries in three minutes from India Perris stretched the lead and, when Phoebe Jay ran in Crewe’s fourth, the hosts trailed 20-0 at the break.

Cassie Kennaugh’s second half try, converted by Sammie Macdonald, gave them some hope but Mollie Latham’s late score made the game safe for Crewe.
