Tony walks to victory
Tony Edwards won the fifth and final round of the Up and Running Winter Race Walking League on Sunday to take the overall title.
He won the senior 10 kilometres event on the NSC perimeter roadway, pipping Stewart Jones by three seconds and finishing just under a minute ahead of third placed Andy Baxendale to beat him to the championship by two points.
The quickest athlete on the day in the handicap event was Michelle Turner, followed By Gianni Epifani and Hannah Hunter.
Sharon Cain and Vicky Heavey tied on 297 points to be crowned open 5km champion with Janine Webber in third.
The junior events were won by Stephen Waddington (junior 3km), Abbie Edwards (2km) and Daniel Lawrie (1km).
