Two races red flagged today

Michael Dunlop won his 24th Southern 100 race on the Colas Billown Course this morning (11 July) in precursor for this afternoon's championship race.

The Northern Irishman overtook Davey Todd on the last lap and held out to win by the smallest of margins in the Steam Packet and Ellan Vannin Fuels Senior Race.

The Ace Hire Sidecar race was halted after three laps due to an incident - marking the second red flag of the day.

The driver was not injured - the passenger was taken to Noble's Hospital for further assessment but was said to be conscious and talking.

However a race result was declared which saw Ben Birchall and Kevin Rousseau given the win as they were leading when the race was stopped.

The morning session opened with the 600cc JCK race where newcomer Grant Thomson dominated the rest of the grid as he crossed the line to win by 6.4 seconds ahead of Adrian Harrison.

In the H&H Motorcycle and S&S Motors 600cc race Mike Browne came first ahead of Dunlop in another exciting encounter which also saw four riders battled for third place.

There was also a red flag during the GH Corlett and Station Garage Solo Founders Consolation race, at Great Meadow, however, the rider was reported to be 'up and walking' after the incident.

Roads will close for this afternoon's racing at 1.30pm.
