Vagabonds struggle against Orrell
Douglas climbed into fifth place in North One West with a narrow 12-3 home win against Stockport on Saturday.
Douglas led 5-3 at half-time, thanks to a try from paceman Nick Brooker.
As both sides toiled on the heavy pitch it was the hosts who made the decisive break in the second half with a try from Max Morley-Green, which was converted by Aidan O’Shea.
Vagabonds went down to another big defeat away to Orrell in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two.
The bottom club were demolished 124-6 with two penalties from Cameron Findlay the sole reward for their efforts.
They remain well adrift at the foot of the table and need 17 points from their remaining eight games just to escape the drop zone.
