Hoddinott grabs late winner
It was a tight affair at Ballafletcher in North West One as Douglas did just enough in the closing stages to take the spoils.
In a contest in which the lead see-sawed, James Clark’s early penalty gave the visitors the lead, before Nathan Knights went over at the other end to haul the hosts level.
Cameron Steel then crossed for Carlisle before a magical solo try from Nick Brooker, converted by Bryn Snellgrove, gave Douglas a 12-8 half-time advantage.
In the second half, Matthew Minett’s try put Carlisle back in front and Clark’s conversion made it 15-12 with ten to play.
However, Douglas rose to the challenge and Simon Hoddinott crashed over for the winner with Snellgrove adding the extras.
