Douglas make solid start

Douglas opened up their account in North One West with a 20-8 home win against Warrington. Bryn Snellgrove opened for Douglas with an early penalty. Seth Waterworth then crossed for a try which was converted by Snellgrove for a 10-0 lead. Alex Stewart then intercepted for Warrington and when Darren Norman added a penalty for the visitors the Douglas lead was cut to 10-7 at half time. Douglas made the game safe in the second half though with tries from skipper Niall Killey and Duncan Wilson.

Vagabonds strike in Manx Shield

Vagabonds B got their Manx Shield campaign underway with a 48-12 win at the Mooragh Park against Ramsey B. Ant Pearson went over for Vagas early on with Aaron Ledingham adding the extras. Harry Parsons then crossed for Ramsey with Connor Goodall converting and at half time the game was all square at 7-7. In the second half Vagas came out of the blocks quicker and soon pulled away. Steve Gawne started the rot with a pushover try. Ollie Morris added another which Johnny Beckley converted and when Cal Donnell ran in it was 26-7. Ollie Brown added another for Vagas before Kieran Kneale bagged one at the other end to reduce the lead to 33-12 before two tries from Ross McCulloch and one from Matt Rockwell.

Emerging Nomads on course for Plate Final

Nomads beat Western Vikings 71-5 at King Williams College to edge close to a place in the Manx Plate final. Hari Radford and Jake Hardinge both ran in hat tricks for Nomads with George Collister getting two and solitary tries from Henry Blackwell, Josh Hewett and Josh Smith. Messrs Radford, Hardinge and Blackwell all kicked a conversion apiece too with Joe Corkish also kicking one and Max Lewthwaite four. Ollie Creasey ran in Vikings consolation try. Best wishes to Tom Kelly for a speedy recovery from a shoulder injury which required an ambulance.
