Island rider to take on top competition next week

Isle of Man cyclist, Ruby Oakes has been selected to represent Great Britain at the 2026 Lloyds Tour of Britain Women next week.

The Under-23 rider is down to feature in the national team for the four-day meeting taking place between Wednesday, 19 August and Sunday, 23 August.

Also due to compete alongside Oakes in the squad will be 2026 Commonwealth Games medallists, Anna Morris and Jess Roberts, as well as fellow young riders Amalie Cooper and Rebecca Gardiner.

The call-up comes after Oakes contested the 2026 Curlew Cup last Sunday (9 August) where - whilst representing FTP- Fulfil The Potential - Racing - she finished just outside the top ten in a race that was won by fellow Manx rider, Nicole Quaye (360Cycling).

The 2026 Tour of Britain Women will start in Cockermouth, Cumbria next Wednesday (19 August), before stage two sees the field take on stage two between Clitheroe and Blackpool on Thursday, 20 August.

Next Friday and Saturday (21-22 August) will involve stages in Wales before the final phase in Royal Leamington Spa on Sunday, 23 August.

Separately, the 2026 Lloyds Tour of Britain Men is scheduled to be held a few weeks later Wednesday, 2 September to Sunday, 6 September.

The rider startlist for that event is yet to be announced.
