Oakes the quickest female rider in wet conditions
Rider Owen Collins snatched a narrow win in a hotly-contested Back 2 Bikestyle Handicap Road Race at the weekend.
In an open contest to the finish in wet weather conditions, Collins edged in front to cross the line ahead of Ivan Sorby in second with Orry Lund taking the final podium place in third.
Elsewhere, Ruby Oakes was the highest female finisher in 15th overall ahead of Sophie Smith (18th) with Jess Carridge making up the female top three in 24th.
Sunday's contest comes ahead of a revamped spring cycling series on Island aiming to improve participation and competition across the different levels.
The next scheduled race is the Nick Corkill Memorial Race organised by Ellan Vannin Cycling Club on Sunday, 24 March.
