Cycling Club Isle of Man to make racing debut next month

Team will contest prestigious race in Republic of Ireland

Cycling Club Isle of Man will make it's competitive debut next month.

The organisation has confirmed it's men's squad will be taking part in the Cairde Ras Tailteann in the Republic of Ireland from 15-19 June.

It'll take competitors from Dublin across to Clare in the west of the country before returning east and finishing in Louth.

The event is considered one of the most prestigious cycling races in Ireland after being first contested in 1953.

CC IoM Team Manager, Conor Davies, believes with the riders they'll be taking 'we can go to the race and be in the mix'.

The news comes after the club announced it would be taking part in events in 2022 earlier this month. 

The men's squad will be the only team put forward this year with the long-term aim to also have a full women's squad in future.
