Manx Missile 58th in opening time trial
Mark Cavendish is taking part in what's expected to be his final event before this year's Tour de France.
The Manx Missile was 58th in the Individual Time Trial on the opening stage of the Tour de Suisse.
The 8-stage race is expected to have a couple of sprint finishes, but Cavendish's team manager at Astana is reported to have said the Manxman is there to work on his climbing ahead of the Tour.
The Tour de France gets underway on 29 June, where Cavendish will be looking to break the record for most stage wins at the event, having tied Eddy Merckx's total of 34 in 2021.
