Closed road racing in store in ancient capital

Closed road racing will make a long-awaited return to Castletown today (22 June).

The Castletown Crit will feature a mixture of competitive and family-friendly action in the Isle of Man's ancient capital between 2pm and 6.45pm this afternoon.

As a result, several highways - Castle Street, Bank Street, Malew Street, The Crofts, Arbory Street and Market Square - will be subject to closures between those times.

Following highways shutting at 2pm, racing for youth riders will take place until 3.30pm before senior riders take the course between 3.30pm and 5.15pm.

There will then be a family-fun, non-competitive session for people to ride around the course from 5.15pm until 5.45pm.

Rounding off the event at 5.45pm will be the Men's A Race before roads reopen again at 6.45pm.

You can view details of today's road closures in Castletown via the Isle of Man Constabulary below.
