Cricket: Isle of Man finishes second in Cyprus series

Barnett and Murphy also win individual tournament awards

The Isle of Man women's national cricket side claimed a trio of wins as they finished second in the Cyprus quadrangular T20i series over Easter weekend.

Two of those victories came on the opening day of the tournament at Happy Valley in Limassol on Good Friday (18 April) against Denmark and the host nation Cyprus.

Day two on Easter Saturday (19 April) presented more of a test as the Isle of Man went down to defeats against Denmark and Jersey.

But the final day of action on Easter Sunday (20 April) yielded another win for the Manx side over Cyprus before a loss in their final match against Jersey who would be crowned winners of the event.

As well as finishing runners-up in the tournament, Isle of Man players also came away with three individual honours.

Lucy Barnett was named both Player of the Tournament and Batter of the Tournament having racked up 272 runs and five wickets across the three days.

Elsewhere, Dani Murphy earned the title of Bowler of the Tournament with a return of 11 wickets and a best wicket rate of 4-18.

There were also a number of milestones for Isle of Man players during the series - among those both Georgie Ford and Lola Hornby-Wheeler went on to make their international cricket debuts.

Four members of the squad - Lucy Barnett, Catherine Perry, Bekkie Webster and Kim Carney - also received caps to mark their respective 25th appearances for the national team during the competition.
