Classic TT: Cinema and exhibition to celebrate John McGuinness

Pop-up attraction to open to fans during this year's event

An attraction will be in place at this year's Classic TT celebrating the racing career of John McGuinness MBE.

A pop-up exhibition and cinema will open each day from Wednesday, 19 August to Friday, 28 August charting the journey and achievements of the 23-time TT winner on the Snaefell Mountain Course.

The project comes as McGuinness himself is marking three decades of racing on the course, having made his TT debut in 1996.

Classic TT organisers say each exhibit will centre around motorcycles McGuinness rode to significant milestones in his career as well as the leathers and helmets he wore during those important moments.

Among the machines expected to be on display include the Honda 250 he took his first TT win on in 1999, the Honda Fireblade he set the first 130mph lap on in 2007 and the special edition Fireblade he rode at this year's races to mark his 30 years of competing here.

Outside of that, there is also due to be selections of helmets, leathers, photographs and other memorabilia on display.

Meanwhile, the cinema setup will screen some of McGuinness' race highlights, most memorable races and other features from over the years.

The cinema and exhibition - which will both be based at the Mercury Club - will be free to attend.

Separately, a further nod to the rider's journey on the Snaefell Mountain Course will be held on Friday, 28 August when a John McGuinness MBE Parade Lap will take place at 3.30pm.
