Simpson begins ladies golf title defence
Isle of Man Golf Champion Jamie Arneil is through to the last sixteen in the defence of his title.
The Mount Murray player beat Mike Rae of Rowany 6 & 5 at Castletown Golf Links and will now be up against former winner Kevin Moore.
Moore won a tight contest with Liam Cowin on the last hole.
Last year's beaten finalist and six-time winner Paul Lowey is through after a 5 & 4 victory over Marcus Avery.
Home favourite Jon Corke won the battle of the former champs with a 3 & 2 success over Peter Glover and will tackle Paul Lowey in the last 16.
The Ladies Championship got underway yesterday with title holder Lynda Simpson through to the last sixteen with a 4 & 3 win over Lindsey Tickell.
Shirley Price won a sudden-death thriller with Joy Morris on the third extra hole.
