Cavendish tackles another mountainous stage

Mark Cavendish was 125th on the 223km-long stage seven of the Tour de Suisse today, 24.26 behind winner Thomas De Gendt.

It was another mountainous stage, starting in Vaduz in Liechtenstein at 470 metres above sea level, climbing to nearly 2400 metres just past the halfway point.

The riders then dropped to around 1000m, up to 1400m, then below 1000m, then climbed about 500m to 1429m in the last 8km to the finish at Serfaus in Austria.

Tomorrow's penultimate stage, from Tübach in Liechtenstein to Schaffhausen in Austria is much shorter, 167km, and a lot flatter, with the real possibility of the kind of bunch sprint finish which suits Cavendish.
