Cav without Wiggins for next season

Bradley Wiggins has parted ways with Colombia and Mark Cavendish for the coming road racing season.

The three-time Olympic gold medallist has told cyclingnews.com he enjoyed his time with the team but said, "I felt that perhaps the role I would have fallen into if I were to stay with them for the next few years would be to just lead Mark Cavendish out in all the sprints!

"As much as I would love to do that, I still have some ambitions for myself," he adds.

But he says apart from London 2012 he has nothing left to achieve on the track, so has signed for Garmin-Slipstream with a view to grabbing stage victories at the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France;

"I want to do something on the road, all that is really missing is a yellow jersey, like from a prologue win at the Tour."
