Ramsey see off promoted Congleton
Already promoted Congleton Bears suffered a rare defeat when they came up against Ramsey at the Mooragh Park in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division three.
A high speed start from the visitors brought an early score from Jacob Bainbridge.
Joe Kanauros added a penalty and when Luke Davenport intercepted a Ramsey pass just before half-time, Phil Humphrey turned it into a try to give the Bears a 13-0 lead at the break.
Ramsey struck back in the second half with an early try from Dave Keenan before Mark Beresford replied with a penalty at the other end and, with half an hour to play, Congleton were in front 16-5.
However, despite losing skipper Dan Bonwick to the sin bin, Ramsey struck back with a try from Liam Sommer and a conversion from Scott Kneale.
In the closing stages Congleton lost prop Kallan Keenan to the sin bin and Ramsey profited when Jarred Callister went in for the match winning try.
Kneale's touchline conversion sealed the deal.
