Any changes to the Manx electoral process must be brought in before this year's general election, for the sake of fairness and democracy.
That's the view of the Manx Labour Party, which is backing proposals to cap electoral spending and get candidates to declare their interests, among other things.
Speaking on behalf of the party, member David Cretney MHK says such important changes should be brought in as quickly as is reasonably possible:
