Sidecar TT champions were involved in red-flag incident in main race

Current Sidecar TT champions, Ben and Tom Birchall are currently recovering following a crash in the latest round of the FIM Sidecar World Championship at the weekend.

The Mansfield duo were involved in an incident early in the main race at Red Bull Ring in Austria on Sunday (6 August) which saw the race red-flagged.

In a post on social media, Tom Birchall says he's torn a ligament in his right shoulder and has begun treatment with some surgery to come.

He adds Ben suffered some 'bad burns on his back' from the tarmac.

Tom is thanking fans for their messages of support, adding they're making plans for the next round of the series, however he says making it to the race at this stage is a 'big ask'.
