Big night for sport at the Villa

Awards for 2015 to be announced

One of the showpiece occasions in Manx sport takes place this evening.

The Isle of Man Bank Sports Awards will be held at the Villa Marina.

The Sportsman and woman announcements will be the climax of the night.

The candidates for the outstanding sportsman of 2015 are three enduro riders - David Knight, Daniel McCanney and brother Jamie, two cyclists in Mark Cavendish and Peter Kennaugh, snooker player Darryl Hill and shooter Tim Kneale.

Athletics dominates the sportswoman class- Sarah Astin, Rachel Franklin and Catherine Reid are all nominated alongside swimmer Charlotte Atkinson, archer Aalin George and Yasmin Ingham from equestrian.

Nine other awards will be announced on the night.

World and Olympic Boxing champion Audley Harrison MBE is the guest-of-honour.
