Big games on opening Football weekend

Corinthians host Peel at Ballafletcher

There are some big clashes in the Canada Life Premier League on the opening Saturday of the new football season.

With the last campaign declared null and void due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the reighing champions are St. Mary's who miss out in the first round of matches.

St George's were runners-up two years ago and face a trip to Port Erin to play Rushen United on Saturday 15 August.

Two other likely title challengers meet at Ballafletcher where Corinthians host Peel.

The two promoted sides begin with home games - Ayre meet Douglas Royal and St John's welcome Old Boys.

The other two fixtures in the top flight are Laxey v Douglas Athletic and Marown v Ramsey.
