Manx swimmer takes title in Sheffield
The Isle of Man has a British Swimming Champion.
Last night at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, current Sportswoman of the Year Charlotte Atkinson won the Women's 50 metre Butterfly Final to potentially put herself in the frame to represent Great Britain at the World Championships.
Her winning time of 26.81 seconds is a new Manx record.
Charlotte has been back in the pool again this morning and has qualified first for the Women's 200 metre Butterfly Open Final in a time of 2 minutes 9.92 seconds - beating her own Manx record by 1.37 seconds.
Atkinson is the first British Swimming Champion from the Isle of Man for nearly half a century - the last being Alex Jackson.
Isle of Man Swimming coach Lee Holland says he's delighted with her achievement:-
