Athletics: Strong result for Gemma Astin at Trafford

Manx female competitors have excelled in event in recent times

There was a strong finish for Gemma Astin in this year's Trafford 10k race held on Sunday (3 March).

The Belgrave Harriers competitor finished eleventh overall in 33 minutes and nine seconds in the senior women's category in a high-calibre field of runners.

It's an event in which female Isle of Man competitors have shone in recent years with the three fastest Isle of Man 10k road times set there.

Rachael Franklin managed her current personal best there of 33 minutes 11 seconds in 2022 whilst Sarah Astin set a Manx record over that distance in the race last year in 32 minutes 35 seconds.
