Cain claims third straight women's win in NRFTW series
Northern AC athlete, Sam Perry claimed top spot during 'The Killer Mile' race on the No Rest For The Wicked series last night.
Held during Wednesday evening's solar eclipse, Perry swept to the men's and overall victory on the grueling uphill course in a time of six minutes and 34 seconds.
Following not far behind in second place was Harry Kneen of Dark Peak Fell Runners (six minutes and 49 seconds) before James Read bagged another top-three finish in third, completing the challenge in seven minutes flat.
Meanwhile, Christa Cain took a third consecutive women's win on the series with the best female time of seven minutes and 42 seconds - a pace which saw her end the day ninth in the overall classification.
After that, Kirsty Barber put in another strong performance to finish second in the women's race at eight minutes and eleven seconds whilst there was another podium for Elena Caley in third (eight minutes, 31 seconds).
Following last night's action, James Read and Jayne Farquhar lead the men's and women's marathon standings respectively whilst Nicholas Colburn and Kirsty Barber are at the forefront of the male and female half-marathon table.
The No Rest For The Wicked Series continues tonight (13 August) with the penultimate event, the Foxdale 5.
