Athletics: Draper second in triathlon

Top form continues for Manxman

Isle of Man athlete Will Draper finished in second place at the XTERRA World Cup in Weston Park on Saturday (3 May).

Draper came home two minutes behind winner Felix Forissier in Staffordshire with a time of 2:29:01.

The off-road triathlon event was the third round of eight which takes place in different parts of the world.

The Manxman's second place finish saw him win £1,441 in prize money and put him 13th in the overall rankings having only competed in one race.

Draper's top two finish comes a week after he won the top prize in the Challenge Gran Canaria on Saturday 26 April

In a social media post the 25-year-old said: "Today was an opportunity to race against some of the best off road triathletes in the world and I really gave it 100%."

Will Draper will return to the road in 10 days time to compete in the Challenge Samorin in Slovakia.
