Grant to assist with several improvements at northern circuit
The Andreas Racing Association (ARA) has received a financial boost to help upgrade safety infrastructure at its home at Jurby Motordrome.
The organisation has been awarded £40,000 in the form of a grant from the Manx Lottery Trust through the Dormant Assets Fund.
The additional finances will allow for the replacement of 46 worn barriers and the acquisition of an extra 40 safeguard recticel barriers to be put in place at the northern circuit.
As part of what's described as a 'major safety improvemement project', the ARA says the initiative will 'enhance safety for track users, marshals, officials and spectators while helping to ensure Jurby Circuit continues to operate to modern motorsport safety standards.'
Chair of the Andreas Racing Association, Linda Alton-Heath, says: "We are incredibly grateful to the Manx Lottery Trust for their support. This funding will allow us to make a significant investment in the safety infrastructure at Jurby Circuit, benefiting everyone who uses and visits the venue.
"Safety is at the heart of everything we do, and these barriers will help us continue to provide a safe environment for racing, track days, race school activities and community events.
"The funding will also support the continued growth of the circuit as a venue for the wider Isle of Man community."
Next month, the ARA is due to host its latest, upcoming meeting at Jurby Motordrome with the 'Jurby Day' event on Sunday, 23 August.
