
A 21 year-old man who devotes his time to helping the Island’s homeless has praised the DHSS for its support in tackling the problem.
Michael Manning, who has been named Young Citizen of Mann 2007, helps run the Broadway drop-in scheme, a volunteer run initiative, which provides shelter and food for the homeless.
It's estimated at least 40 people are either sleeping rough or so called 'sofa-surfing' in Douglas.
With many out on the streets during the TT, and others kicked out of their regular accommodation during the fortnight, the Homeless Multi-Agency Task Force approached the department.
