The constabulary's campaign to fast track people arrested for drunkenness in and around licensed premises led to two Douglas residents spending Friday night in the cells at Police Headquarters.
Forty-one-year-old Steven Raby and 37-year-old Rachael Harrison were arrested for being drunk and disorderly in James Street on the first day of the campaign.
The court heard officers were called to a reported disturbance near the British Hotel at 9.45pm on Friday.
Raby and Harrison swore at the police when they arrived, despite being warned about their behaviour, and were taken into custody.
They appeared before the deputy high bailiff on Saturday morning and were each fined £250 for being drunk and disorderly, with Raby fined a further £150 for damage he caused in his police cell.
